Parade Time! Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

At last year's parade, Santa pointed right at us!
The kids squealed with delight.
One of our Christmas traditions is attending the Winston-Salem Holiday Parade. We bundle the kids up, wrap them up in a huge blanket, tuck them in the red wagon and roll them up to Fourth Street to find a spot with a good view and easy access to Wolfies' hot chocolate for the kids. (I've got my heart set on a Camino Bakery Krankie's Coffee pumpkin latte this year too.) This year marks the 21st year of the Annual Winston-Salem Jaycees Downtown Holiday Parade. The parade will be this Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 at 5:00 PM in Downtown Winston-Salem and will be followed by the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership‘s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Corpening Plaza.

My son's parade favorites are the drum corps and the Tiger Kim Tae Kwon Do team as they stop to chop slats of wood with their bare hands with a suspicious firecracker "pop!". My girl loves the Nutcracker ensemble and the unicycling kids. Of course, both love the candy and goodies tossed from the floats and can hardly wait to see Santa at the end. After the parade, we usually head to Burke Street Pizza for a slice before heading home to get cozy by the fire.
