Hope is the thing...

Our trusty Remington still works!.
If anyone has some ink rolls for it, let me know.

by Emily Dickinson
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Emily Dickinson Poetry Slam on Friday, March 25, 2011, at Honduras Coffee Co (click for earlier post), Stuart, Virginia; sponsored by Reynolds Homestead (birthplace and boyhood home of R.J. Reynolds)

  1. Did you see that Patrick County is hosting "The Big Read" this month and it is based around the concept of a community reading a book together? The Reynolds Homestead is behind it and they have chosen a book of Emily Dickinson poems. It's pretty cool.

  2. David, I did. I actually mention that in my Honduras Coffee Co. post, because that's where the event is being held, but thanks for the reminder. I need to add that to this post!
