Friday Find: Vintage Suitcases

If you are lucky, your grandparents have some vintage suitcases gathering dust in the attic. Mine did and I've been using the sturdy little sky blue number as my carry on for years, but now I wish I had more!

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” –Mark Twain
I found these gorgeous vintage cognac leather Samsonite suitcases at Elizabeth's Fine Consignments & Antiques on Reynolda Rd. The suitcase is only $25 and the train/toiletry case is $20. Although I'm generally not an advocate for dismantling vintage beauties like these, if you are not going to use them for their intended purpose, you could upcycle them into useful artful items like these! (What is Upcycling? Read my earlier post HERE.):

This upcycled vintage suitcase is now a fab kitty crib- available on Etsy for $45.99. Make your own or buy on Etsy. Click the photo to buy and/or see more in the seller's shop.
Or how about this great idea? A suitcase medicine cabinet? Brilliant!
