Pretty Little Things- Winter Miniatures exhibit at Community Arts Cafe

The 2nd annual Winter Miniatures Show
returns to the Community Arts Café

with an exhibit of juried 2-D and 3-D miniature art works from artists around the Triad. Find the exhibit in the Conference Room Gallery in the lower level of Commerce Plaza. My artist friend and miniature art expert, Clark Whittington, and founder of the Art-O-Mat, judged the show and presented a ‘Best In Show’ and two merit awards. The exhibit is free and open to the public, and will be on display through Sunday, March 13th, 2011.

"Grandmother in Pearls" by Jordan Grace Owens- Best in Show
I took the kids after school on Friday. They loved all the tiny art. My only request would be that they install future miniature shows a little lower on the walls, so that little people can see the little art. My arms were tired from hoisting them up over and over! One bonus of weensy art, besides being sooo cute, is that it is often very affordable. The eldest's favorite was a little heart-shaped raku pottery box, which was, sadly, already sold.

"3 Boats" acrylic Bill Scherbak-
Note that the painting is only about 3 inches wide!
"Nature's Song" mixed media
by Kathy Brusnighan
This one was my munchkin's favorite.
